A history of the 138 year old artist association, the Charcoal Club of Baltimore. The first few chapters begin with the founding of the Club in 1883 and with the importance of its highly regarded art school and popular annual Exhibition of American Contemporary Art. The book then turns to the social aspects of the Club, its hilarious endeavors, and combative positions veiled in humor. The book continues with a chronicle of the Club's history followed by a sampling of artworks by Club members.
