In 1812, Jacques-Louis David painted Emperor Napoleon. Depicted with a Brutus-style haircut and, in a military uniform of the foot grenadiers of the Imperial Guard, this portrait shows Napoleon Bonaparte in his forties and at the height of his powers.
In 1785, Napoleon's brother, Jerome Bonaparte, married Elizabeth Patterson, a Baltimorean born to a wealthy family. Napoleon annulled the marriage, but not before it produced a son, Jerome Napoleon Bonaparte.
